JUNIOR AUTUMN MEETING (Saturday 6th September 2008):- Par 71, Css 72 - 14 players took part in this competition and our congratulations go to the following:-

Robert Wood with a fine 70 (87-17), Callum Runciman 73 (98-25), Alexander Ross 73 (92-29), Gavin Foubister 73 (77-4).

Gavin had the best gross score with his 77.

WEST OF SCOTLAND GIRLS (Hilton Park):- Aileen Campbell, Jillian Farrell and Nicola Morrison all made the long journey to Milngavie to take part in this competition. Aileen played in the 18 hole competition and returned a gross score of 116. Jillian and Nicola took part in the 9 hole competition and scored 54 & 70 respectively.

This was a learning experience for the girls and will help them for future competitions. Well Done!!!!

CULLEN MEDALS (Friday 15th August 2008):- Division 1 - Par 71, CSS 71:- 9 boys competed in this competiton where scoring was excellent. Jordan Stewart had a 67 (78-11), Cieran Stewart 69 (80-11), Robert Wood 69 (86-17).

Yellow Medal - Par 71 , CSS 70:- 9 boys also competed in this competition where scoring was even better. Craig Runciman had a 66 (93-27), Cameron Black 67 (91-24), Mark Williams 68 (87-19).

JUNIOR OPEN(Thursday 31st July 2008):- A record 82 boys and 4 girls competed in this competition which was played in rainy conditions. Despite the weather a good time was had by all and some excellent scores were returned.

The main prize winners were as follows:- Handicap Winner and Cardross Junior Open Winner 2008 - Adam Hart (Cardross), Scratch Winner (Boys) - Ian Stewart (Cardross), Scratch Winner (Girls) - Kirsten Scott (Milngavie), Handicap Winner (Girls) - Megan Duff (Hilton Park).

HELENSBURGH BOYS OPEN(Saturday 26th July 2008):- Cardross boys do the double.

After a very hard fought match over 36 holes Cameron Farrell beat Scott Costello (Kirkhill) in the Championship Flight Final of this prestigious competition by one hole.

Liam Halliday beat Tom Flanagan (Helensburgh) in the Silver Flight Final played over 18 holes by a resounding 6&5.

Our congratulations to both boys on their achievements.

The boys also wish to thank their families and fellow members for making the effort to come and support them.

Our 2 Helensburgh Boys Winners Cameron Farrell and Liam Halliday in action in their respective Finals.

McINTYRE LEAGUE:- The Junior Team travelled to Vale of Leven Golf Club on Monday 21st July 2008 in their final match in this competition. A win would see the lads finish a very creditable second in the league and they did not disappoint with a fine victory by 5-1.

Individual results:- Colin Stevenson won 4&3, Cammy Bone won 2&1, Gavin Foubister lost 1down, Cameron Farrell won 1up, Liam halliday won 4&3, Liam Chambers won 2up.

The reserves Robert Wood lost on the 18th and Alistair Hughes-Hughes lost on the 16th.

Well done to all the boys and let's go one better next year

SCOTTISH JUNIOR MASTERS:- The Regional Final of this competition took place at Dunblane New Golf Club on Thursday 17th July 2008. At stake was the chance to progress to the Grand Final at the Queens Course at Gleneagles in October 2008.

Representing Cardross was Liam Halliday, Jordan Stewart and Aillen Campbell.

This competition was a stableford format with the top 13 boys and top 5 girls progressing to the final.

Liam Halliday scored a fine 35pts to finish in 14th place, losing out only after a countback. Jordan finished a creditable 18th with 33pts. Aileen also just missed qualifying, her 27pts being one short of the qualifying score.

All three players enjoyed their rounds and gained valuable experience and can hopefully go one better next time.

Our congratulations to them for getting there in the first place. Well Done!!!!

COUNTY BOYS (BEARSDEN GOLF CLUB):- 120 competitors took part in this competitition with the following Cardross boys making it past the first day (medal play):- Gavin Foubister, Iain Stewart, Liam Halliday, Cameron Farrell & Ceiran Stewart. After the second medal round Gavin, Iain & Liam managed to make it through to the matchplay stages in 8th, 9th & 11th places respectively.

The first round of matchplay unfortunately saw Gavin facin Iain and after a very tight game Gavin won 1up to progress to the next round. Liam played some very good golf to edge out highly rated David Gallagher from Clydebank & District on the 18th.

In the last 8 Gavin faced the winner of the medal play rounds and despite some good golf lost 3&2. Liam could not produce the form from his first round match and lost 2&1.

Congratulations to all the boys and we wish then better luck next year.

JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:- The Championship took place between Tuesday 8th & Wednesday 9th July 2008. After some tight matches the semi-fimals saw Gavin Foubister play Chris Young and Colin Stevenson take on Liam Halliday.

Gavin beat Chris 3&1 and Liam overcame Colin 3&2 to take their place in Wednesday's 36 hole final.

The morning round began with both boys making bogey at the first hole. Both players played par golf until Liam took the lead at the 8th hole. Liam extended his lead at the 11th but Gavin fought back to win the next 2 holes to level the game before stepping up a gear to take a 3 hole lead after 18.

Liam began the afternoon round with a barrage of birdies to go 2 up after 7 holes. Gavin sqaured the game at the 10th before edging in front at hole 16 before closing out the match at the 17th to win 2&1.

Congratulations to our new Junior Champion Gavin Foubister and commiserations to a gallant runner-up Liam Halliday.

DGU KNOCKOUT TROPHY:- The Junior Team travelled to Helensburgh in their quest to retain the cup that they won last year. An exciting and close match saw the teams tied 3-3 at the end of normal play. Sudden death ensued but unfortunately for our boys Ian Stewart lost at the 3rd extra hole.

Individual Results:- Ian Stewart lost 4&3, Lee Gibson won 4&3, Gavin Foubister lost 1 down, Cameron Farrell won 5&4, Liam Halliday & Liam Chambers won 4&3, Jordan Stewart & Ceiran Stewart lost 4&3.

HALIBURTON TROPHY:- (Cardross 30th June 2008 & Helensburgh 2nd July 2008), Cardross Boys once again dominated this Annual Competition between juniors from both clubs by winning both the Scratch and Handicap triophies.

LIAM HALLIDAY easily won the Scratch competition by some way from Cameron Farrell who finished 2nd.

The Handicap competition was a much tighter affair but LIAM ROWAN squeezed a one shot win.

Our congratulations to both boys.

JUNIOR McINTYRE LEAGUE:- Once again the boys produced another tremendous performance against Clober Golf Club at Cardross on Sunday 15th June 2008. The result was another whitewash 6-0.

Individual Scores:- Game 1, Ian Stewart won 3&2. Game 2, Lee Gibson won 9&7. Game 3, Cammy Bone won 4&3. Game 4, Gavin Foubister won 3&2. Game 5, Cameron Farrell won 4&2. Game 6, Colin Stevenson won 2up.

The reserve matches also saw Chris young win 5&4 and in a 2 Ball Match Liam Chambers & Liam Halliday won 7&6.

Unfortunately the poor results in the first 2 games means that the team cannot win the League this season but an away victory against Vale of Leven Golf Club.

JUNIOR McINTYRE LEAGUE:- The team continued in their winning ways with an excellent 5-1 win away to Helensburgh on Sunday 8th June 2008.

Individual Results:- Game 1, Ian Stewart Halve match. Game 2, Lee Gibson won 3&1. Game 3, Gavin Foubister halve match. Game 4, Cameron Farrell won 5&4. Game 5, Liam Halliday won 6&5. Game 6, Colin Stevenson won 4&3.

The reserve matches saw Chris Young lose 4&3 and Liam Chambers halve his match.

JUNIOR McINTYRE LEAGUE:- The boys continued their fine form at home to Clydebank Overtoun on Sunday 1st June 2008. Another excellent perfomance saw them whitewash their opponents by the score of 6 matches to nil.

Individual Results:- Game 1, Ian Stewart won 6&5. Game 2, Gavin Foubister won 3&1. Game 3, Cameron Farrell won 4&3. Game 4, Colin Stevenson won 4&3. Game 5, Liam Chambers won 6&4. Game 6, Liam halliday won 7&5.

In the 2 reserve matches Alisdair Hughes-Hughes had a halve match and Robert Wod won 7&6.

The next match sees the team away to Helensburgh Golf Club on Sunday 8th June 2008.

DGU KNOCKOUT COMPETITION:- The Junior Team travelled to Milngavie Golf Club on Friday 30th May 2008 in their quest to defend the trophy that they won in magnificent fashion last year. An impressive team performance saw the boys emerge with an excellent victory by the score of 41/2 to 11/2.

Cameron bone called off the night before and Alisdar Hughes-Hughes was called in as a last minute replacement.

Individual Results:- Game 1, Ian Stewart halve match. Game 2, Lee Gibson won 6&5. Game 3, Gavin Foubister won 4&3. Game 4, Alisdair Hughes-Hughes lost 2&1. Game 5, Colin Stevenson & Cameron Farrell won 4&3. Game 6., Liam halliday & Liam Chambers won 4&3.

In his debut for the team Alisdair played extremely well and was unfortunate to lose to his much experienced opponent at the 17th.

Congratulations to the entire team and the club wishes them all the best in the next round.

The team play host to Dalmuir in their next match in the McIntyre League on Sunday 1st June 2008 at 10am where hopefully they can continue their good form.

JUNIOR McINTYRE LEAGUE:- The Junior Team travelled to Clydebank Golf Club in their latest league match on Sunday 25th May 2008. The boys played far better that than in their opening match but unfortunately lost by 4 matches to 2.

Individual Results:- Game 1, Chris Young lost 4&3. Game 2, Ian Stewart lost 4&3. Game 3, Lee Gibson won 1up.

Game 4, Gavin Foubister lost 5&3. Game 5, Liam Chambers lost 1down. Game 6, Cameron Farrell won 5&4.

Once again the two reserves Liam Halliday and Colin Stevenson won their matches.

The next game for the boys is on Friday 30th May 2008 away to Milngavie in their defence of the DGU Knockout Competition that they won last year.

The team for this match is as follows:- Ian Stewart, Cameron Bone, Lee Gibson, Gavin Foubister, Colin Stevenson, Cameron Farrell, Liam Chambers & Liam Halliday when all the boys scores will count.

JUNIOR McINTYRE LEAGUE:- The Junior Section started their defence of their Mcintyre League at Home to Dumbarton G.C. on Sunday 11th May 2008. Unfortunately they didn't get off to the best start as they lost the match by the score of 3 1/2 to 2 1/2.

With three holes to go it looked like our boys were going to edge the match but to their credit Dumbarton turned the match around in to record a fine win.

Individual Results:- Game 1, Ian Stewart lost 7&6. Game 2, Cameron Bone lost at the 18th. Game 3, Lee Gibson halved.

Game 4, Gavin Foubister won 6&5. Game 5, Cameron Farrell won 7&6. Game 6, Chros Young lost 6&5.

The two reserves Liam Halliday and Colin Stevenson both had comfortable victories.

There is no game next week but on Sunday 25th may 2008 the team face a difficult game away to Clydebank & District.

JUNIOR MEDAL (SATURDAY 10th MAY 2008):- Our congratulations go to Robert McLellan who had a HOLE IN ONE at the 5th hole during this competition. Robert saw his tee shot take a member's bounce from the bank on the right of the green and run into the hole.
