  • RULES ACADEMY

    ONLINE LEARNING FACILITY

bigpicWhen you are out on the Course during a Monthly Medal you may come across a situation that might test your knowledge about the Rules of Golf.
The R & A have introduced an online Rules Academy so that you can test your knowledge of the Rules and if you wish you can take a short informal exam.
For more information please read below.

What is the R&A Rules Academy?
The R&A’s Rules Academy is a free online course that covers Etiquette and the most frequently occurring Rules of Golf. It is aimed at teaching golfers of all abilities and ages these fundamentals. It features videos, images and diagrams of Rules situations and includes revision questions after each section. Users are guided through the course by either Padraig Harrington or Suzann Pettersen, both R&A Working for Golf Ambassadors and at the end of the course there is the opportunity to take The R&A’s Level 1 Exam.

The Rules Academy is available at www.RandA.org/RulesAcademy

    Why do it?
A better understanding of Etiquette and the basic Rules of the game can help every golfer increase their enjoyment of the game.
The online course should take no more than a couple of hours to complete and it can be taken when you want and where you want.

    Is it any good?
Since the website was launched in July 2013, over 10,000 golfers from over 120 countries have increased their knowledge of Etiquette and the Rules through the Rules Academy.
The website also won awards at both the 2013 Herald Digital Awards and the 2014 Digital Impact Awards.

Following a user survey we have made the following improvements:
    • enhanced Home page

    • feedback on errors made in answering revision questions

    • the optional exam is now free of charge
